Instagram Collabs are Here

Instagram has been rolling out plenty of new features lately. The latest is Instagram Collabs. Instagram Collabs allows you to co-author feed posts and Reels. Collabs give you an exciting new opportunity to reach new audiences. We’ll tell you everything you need to know about Instagram Collabs and some other fun new Insta features.

Instagram Collabs

Instagram Collabs

Instagram Collabs allow a user to invite another user on an Instagram feed post or a Reel, so that both users can share the content with their followers.

Both names will appear on the header, you can share to both sets of followers, and share likes, views, and comments. Collabs is similar to TikTok’s “Duets” feature.

Instagram Collabs are a great way for brands to promote themselves to new audiences on the app. The platform began testing this new feature earlier this year, with users in certain regions getting access. This feature will most likely increase the number of collabs in the Instagram creator community. It also will help brands partner with influencers, reach more communities, and gain more clout by partnering with like-minded accounts.

Keep in mind that paid partnerships will still need to be disclosed appropriately!

How to Use Instagram Collabs

With this new feature, you can send and accept requests to collaborate with other users on feed posts and Reels.

If you still don’t have access to Collabs, it’s still a new feature and you might not have it yet.

How to Send a Collabs Request on Instagram

Once you upload your feed post or Reel, go to the regular share screen and tag “Tag People.” In the bottom right corner, there will be an option to “Invite Collaborator.” Tap it, then search for and choose the user you want to collaborate with.

After you’ve selected your collaborator, share your post! The collaborator will receive your request in their DMs. The post will not publish until they have accepted your request.

At the moment, you can only collaborate with one other user.

How to Accept a Collabs Request on Instagram

If someone requests to collaborate with you, you’ll see their request in your DMs. Select “Accept,” and the content will appear on both of your profiles.

More New Features on Instagram

Collabs isn’t the only new feature on Instagram. Instagram also announced on Wednesday, October 26 that Link Stickers will be available for everyone. Stories links used to be limited to only those with verified accounts or a large number of followers. You might remember that Link Stickers recently replaced “Swipe Ups” in the app.

Instagram also recently announced scheduling for Instagram Lives up to 90 days in advance. It also released “Practice Mode,” which lets you test out your Live setup in advance.
