What is a Google Penalty?
A Google penalty means that your website is no longer listed on search results, or that your ranking for your targeted keywords has dropped off dramatically and/or abruptly. Google penalties are designed to punish websites that have done something wrong. For example, links to a low-quality site, hidden text, and keyword-stuffed content can all trip Google’s penalty filters. A Google penalty can severely impact a website’s performance on search engines. Unfortunately, a Google penalty can happen to any website.
If the idea of a Google penalty is still confusing to you, think of it as similar to a penalty in your favorite sport.
